Martay M’kenzy is a singer, songwriter, rapper and trained dancer. With a wealth of experience under her belt, powerhouse vocals, undeniable stage presence and the intrinsic ability to rock the mic and hype a crowd, it’s true to say that she is one diverse lady. From playing lead roles in The Lion King in London’s West End to being a long standing member of hit percussion show STOMP, Martay is a tour de force!
Hailing from Manchester, Martay M’kenzy broke onto the music scene at the tender age of 13 when she signed her first major recording contract with Chrysalis Records, alongside music producer DBM. Collectively known as MC Martay and DJ DBM, their debut single ‘Summertime’ afforded mixes from the likes of The Jungle Brothers, Norman Cooke and Afrika Bombata. Later signing with Sony Music, her first single as a solo artist, Gimme all your lovin’, gained recognition in the UK and all over Europe.
Martay M’kenzys’ impressive portfolio includes features with artists such as The Rebel MC, The Urban Cookie Collective, Mike Oldfield and Errol Brown and collaborations with music industry elite producers such as Steve Robson (One Direction), C-Swing (Estelle), The Schizofreniks (Tynchy Stryder). Her most recent collaborations are with electronic producer/Dj Freejak, house producer/dj Habbo Foxx, and house music producer Matt Sharratt. Martay M’Kenzy has also collaborated with Mark Richards one half of house outfit Solardo, which saw her penning songs for Sarah Harding (Girls Aloud) and Matt Henry, finalist of the voice 2013 and Olivier award winner for his role in the west end musical Kinky Boots Martay is currently writing top lines with producer/songwriter E.N.V. with their most recent release being ‘Put it on me’ produced by Holy Goof and Notion Featuring Mila Falls. August 2020 saw Martay being the featured artist for ‘Together All The Way’ a musical short film for the global shipping company Maersk. Martay M’Kenzy is currently playing the role of Shenzi in the West End production of Walt Disneys The Lion King.
Martay M’kenzy is also the original lyricist and vocalist for High On Heels, a collective of stunningly talented female musicians who create an electrifying and exciting addition to the world of live entertainment, performing around the world at prestigious venues and for the most luxurious brands. Run by world renowned DJ Miss Kelly Marie (Hed Kandi, Ministry Of Sound) High On Heels was born out of Martay M’kenzy and DJ Miss Kelly Maries’ mutual passion for music and live entertainment.
